Built for the Way Food and Beverage Operations Move

Food and beverage operations depend on the continuous movement of raw ingredients, packaging, finished products, and refrigerated goods. Battery changes, maintenance requirements, and inconsistent charging can interrupt that flow and reduce equipment availability.

Reliable Power for Food Production and Processing

Keep ingredients, packaging materials, and finished products moving between receiving, production, packaging, storage, and shipping.

Key Benefits

Support demanding production schedules with reliable battery performance, flexible charging, and less routine maintenance.

How a Food and Beverage Company Improved Forklift Uptime with Lithium Ion

Vertical Image Transformation-1

FOOD & BEVERAGE

Problem

Hollandia Dairy’s lead-acid batteries struggled to last a full shift, sometimes providing only 6 hours of production. Battery limitations caused equipment downtime,  jack swapping, and disruptions between day and night shifts.

Solution

Hollandia Dairy switched its pallet jacks to Flux Power lithium-ion batteries, providing longer runtimes, onboard charging, and a seamless fit without extensive equipment modifications.

Result

Pallet jacks now run 8 to 12 hours, allowing operators to use assigned equipment for an entire shift. Hollandia Dairy increased productivity and efficiency, eliminated downtime and swapping, and cycled out 10 older jacks.

“Longer run times. We’re more productive. No more issues with equipment going down.”

— Bob Hodge, Hollandia Dairy

Food and Beverage Lithium-Ion Battery FAQs

Accordion Icon What are the benefits of lithium-ion forklift batteries for food and beverage operations?
Lithium-ion batteries offer extended runtime, opportunity charging capability, minimal maintenance requirements, and connected fleet data. For food and beverage operations, these features enable longer shifts without battery swaps, reduced labor costs, and improved equipment availability across production, cold storage, and distribution environments.
Accordion Icon Can lithium-ion forklift batteries operate in cold storage environments?
Yes. Flux Power lithium-ion batteries are designed with properly configured thermal management and application-specific charging strategies to support equipment operating in temperature-controlled environments. Unlike lead-acid batteries, lithium-ion solutions maintain consistent performance in cold storage without the freeze-thaw degradation that affects other battery chemistries.
Accordion Icon How does opportunity charging support multi-shift food distribution operations?
Opportunity charging allows batteries to recharge during scheduled breaks (lunch, shift changes, loading/unloading cycles) rather than requiring a full overnight charge. This supports longer operating hours, reduces the need for spare batteries, and improves equipment utilization across high-throughput order picking, loading, and delivery operations.
Accordion Icon How can food and beverage operations monitor battery health and utilization?
SkyEMS provides connected battery data that allows operations to monitor state of health, state of charge, runtime, utilization, temperature, and reported alerts in real time. This centralized approach supports multi-facility management and helps identify underused assets, optimize charging strategies, and prevent performance issues before they occur.
Accordion Icon Are Flux Power lithium-ion energy solutions UL Listed?
Yes. Flux Power lithium-ion batteries are UL Listed, meeting rigorous safety and performance standards. All applicable product families carry full documentation of certifications and warranty coverage specific to their intended applications.
